Hospital Pharmacy Technician
Hospital pharmacy technicians have to be team player as they will be working with lots of other pharmacy employees. They are also required to have computer skills. A major part of your job is to keep medication stocked in various parts of the hospital. You may be given additional training to compound or make intravenous (I.V.) solutions.
Retail Pharmacy Technician
Retail pharmacy technicians have to be great at customer service because they work with the public. You are also required to have computer skills. A major part of your job is to fill prescrptions for patients. You may be given additional training to compound or make special medications that the drug companies do not manufacture.
Other Pharmacy Technician Positions
The majority of pharmacy tehcnicians either work in a hospital or a retail pharmacy. However, there are a lot more types of positions than this. You may work in a nuclear pharmacy, nonsterile compounding lab, research lab ,or pharmacy sales rep.
Note: All pharmacy technician jobs need additional on-the-job training.
