importance of being certified

Good Afternoon. I'm new to the site, but not new to pharmacy. I am a Navy Veteran, trained as a Pharmacy Tech and until the past few years, was able to work in both retail and hospital pharmacies. I knew that the times were coming that certification would be manditory, but didn't persue it. A few months ago I found myself looking to a position, and despite my background and training...have not even been able to get an interview. I feel so blessed to be able to find affordable pharmacy technician classes to get be ready for the exam...I checked and if I were to go back to school, it would be at least $4,000 and take 6 months or more.
