Dallas Pharmacy Technician Certification License
Texas pharmacy technicians have to be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. The initial registration
fee is $54 and the renewal
fee is $51. Also, you have to have a high school diploma or a GED. Furthermore, you have to
pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam in order to work as a Texas pharmacy technician.
You have to renew your registration every 2 years by completing 20 hours of CE, 1 hour of which must be pharmacy law. Retail pharmacies
and other ambulatory settings may have up to 2 pharmacy technicians per pharmacist working in a pharmacy. Institutional pharmacies such as
hospitals have no regulations regarding the pharmacy technician to pharmacist ratio.
If you have not passed the PTCB exam,
you may register as a Texas pharmacy technician trainee. There is no fee for registration as a Texas pharmacy technician trainee.
You may be a Texas pharmacy technician trainee for up to 1 year before you have to
register as a Texas pharmacy technician. Texas pharmacy technician trainees are required to have a high school diploma, GED, or
enrollment in high school.

Dallas pharmacy technicians with less than 4 years of experience make an average salary of $11.16 to $14.72 per hour. Dallas pharmacy
technicians with 4 or more years of experience make an average salary of $13.66 to $16.38 per hour.
